Bright pinkish red flowers rise on short stalks just above the leaves in early spring. Dramatic planted as an edger along shady paths or as a small-scale groundcover. For best results, plant in morning or dappled sun locations in a compost-rich soil that drains well; avoid hot sun and soggy soil. Powdery mildew can be an issue; water in the morning so leaves don't remain wet overnight.
