Botanic is a fresh perspective on floral motifs, featuring a deconstructed bouquet brought to life on the loom. The thoughtful application of color adds dimension to this versatile and lively weave.

Having previously explored florals through printed and molded textiles, our design team set out to push the boundaries of weaving—and creativity. Botanic was developed through a playful and iterative process that began with a trip to New York's Flower District. Back at the studio, a variety of stems were arranged on paper.  These compositions were then covered in a coat of spray paint. When the flowers were lifted away from the painted paper, their silhouettes remained.

The works on paper were photographed and then the compositions were collaged digitally. Finally, the image was translated into a woven jacquard, its playful blooms enlivened through unexpected color.

A new voice in Chilewich's ongoing conversation with faux bois—the centuries-old art and craft of imitating wood—Woodgrain gains its distinctive look from faithfully recreated patterns originally formed by the burls, knots, growth rings, and other natural variations that make each piece of wood unique. This weave was developed with a large, thoughtfully scaled repeat to enhance the continuity and organic quality of the tonal texture.

Lattice is one of Chilewich's few weaves that is woven on Leno looms. Chilewich's clear coated weft yarns become bumpy when extruded and therefore push warp yarns in an irregular line, with an overall effect that feels naturally random. The clear coating provides and overall shimmer often likened to crystal and jewels.

Inspired by textiles that use plied, or multi-strand, yarn to create wave-like effects, Moiré recreates this distinctively rippled quality through pattern. Versatile tonal hues come together in textural striations that evoke tiger stripes, curly lamb fur, or dappled sunlight.
