This romaine lettuce boasts big, sweet, crisp, and slightly crinkled leaves that are sure to please any palate. A variety of French origin, ‘Verte Mar’ stood out in the 2015 Seed Savers Exchange lettuce evaluation for its sweetness and crispness. Heirloom, Non-GMO, Open-Pollinated. 

Growing Instructions: Plant lettuce seeds outside in the spring or fall when temperatures are still cool, as lettuce bolts in warm temperatures.

  • Direct sow seeds 1/8” deep, 1” apart
  • Germination: 7–14 days
  • Thin plants to 6–8” apart
  • Light: full sun or partial shade
  • Water gently at the base of plants to keep the soil consistently moist
