Rosa Rugosa White

Rosa rugosa Alba is the classic white form of the rugged rugosa rose, opening large single blooms of pure white with a sunny center and sweet clove fragrance. Exceptionally hardy, it tolerates salt, wind, and poor soils while resisting deer, rabbits, and disease without any spraying. The crinkled green foliage turns golden in fall, and large red-orange hips follow the flowers. Plant it in full sun, where it makes a superb informal hedge or seaside planting. It blooms through summer with little to no care. For carefree, fragrant white on a tough plant, white rugosa is hard to beat.
