When the late-summer gardens give up their last blooms of the season, Colchicum comes to call. Easy and carefree, colchicum begins blooming in fall, usually in September, and continues producing its chalice-shaped, crocus-like flowers for weeks on end. Blooms are pinkish purple with splashes of white toward the center. They are carefree and easy to grow, needing only well-drained soil and regular watering.
