Aechmea 'Del Mar' is best known for its beautiful blooms of a pink spike and purple bracts (petal-like leaves) that can last for as long as a year. 'Del Mar' grows best in fast draining soil or sand and its cup kept full during hot weather. It likes strong but filtered light and good air circulation. Its rosette can grow up to 2 feet tall and 3 feet wide and has medium green leaves that are leathery to the touch, but have sharp spikes along their edges.
