Midnight Mystery Ajuga creates a dramatic, deep-colored carpet of near-black purple foliage that makes a striking contrast against lighter garden companions throughout spring, summer, and fall. Vivid blue flower spikes emerge in spring, rising beautifully above the dark, semi-evergreen leaves to attract butterflies when garden color is just beginning. Low-growing and spreading, it fills in readily as a ground cover in partially shaded borders, beneath trees, and along woodland edges. Resistant to deer, rabbits, and disease, and notably tolerant of Juglone from black walnut trees. An excellent erosion control plant for challenging shaded slopes.
