Heirloom tomatoes are bred for their flavor and simple preparation best allows that intense flavor to shine through. Tomatoes can be sliced and drizzled with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and salt and pepper or layer slices with basil and mozzarella for a Caprese salad.

Growing Instructions: You should start your tomato seeds indoors in soil trays or pots about 6 weeks before you plant them outside. Sow the seeds about 1/4 inch deep and wait 7-14 days for them to germinate. As they grow you may need to re-pot them to give their roots space to develop. When all chance of frost has passed and the soil has warmed to at least 50 degrees Fahrenheit you can plant your tomatoes out. Leave around 24-36 inches between the plants. Tomatoes should be grown with some form of support, such as staking, cages, or a trellis. This variety will be mature about 70-80 days after transplanting.

Striking dark-violet stems, leaf veins, and pods with beautiful lilac colored blossoms extend above the foliage on long, straight stems. We do not recommend growing for food, but rather as an ornamental for its flowers. Seed pods and beans are poisonous at certain stages. In Asia and Africa, hyacinth beans are grown for food and can be eaten if prepared properly. Vines grow 10-15' if given proper support.

Also known as Agastache, lavender hyssop, and licorice mint, this heirloom is loved by hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. With a minty, anise/licorice flavor, it is as useful in the kitchen as it is beautiful. The leaves and flowers make a refreshing, fruity tea, and can be added to salads. The lavender-blue flower spikes are lovely in fresh floral arrangements or dried bouquets. Perennial in USDA zones 4-8. Fairly drought tolerant once established.

You can grow breathtaking dahlias from seed and enjoy them year after year. This very tall blend of eye-popping colors is especially suited for the back of the garden, and the long, sturdy stems make them great for cut flowers. Blooms appear about 90 days from sowing, so you can enjoy beautiful blooms come summer. Perennial in USDA zones 7–10; in colder climates, at season's end, tubers can be lifted and stored indoors over winter. Attracts butterflies and other pollinators. Use the edible, mild-flavored petals to garnish salads, desserts, and drinks. (The flower's central disk, while edible, can be bitter.)
