This dark-pink beefsteak tomato boasts a great, moderately sweet flavor. Betty Moore of Stow, Ohio, has stewarded this variety since 1983, when she received it from her mother, Oma Rachel Lively Miller, who bought it at a greenhouse in Fredericktown, Ohio, in 1943.

Black Swan' is too gorgeous to tuck away into a collage of other flowers, with its intricate, finely cut petals as dark as cabernet.
