It has attractive burgundy deciduous foliage which emerges ruby-red in spring. The pointy leaves are highly ornamental and turn an outstanding red in the fall. The fruits are showy red pomes carried in abundance from early fall to late winter. The fruit can be messy if allowed to drop on the lawn or walkways, and may require occasional clean-up.
