Planting

Location:

Choose a location that receives full to partial sun for optimal growth, ideally 4 to 6 hours of sunlight daily. Ensure the soil is well-draining and rich in organic matter to support healthy blooms.

Spacing:

Space this perennial approximately 3 to 5 feet apart to ensure adequate air circulation and room for growth, following guidelines from reputable horticultural sources.

Watering

Water this shrub consistently to keep the soil evenly moist, particularly during dry spells, ensuring it does not dry out completely between waterings.

Fertilizing

Feed your Annabelle with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to promote robust growth and abundant blooms.

Pruning

Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Cut the stems back to about 6 to 12 inches above the ground to encourage strong, new growth that will support the season's large flowers. This is the optimal time for pruning, as it flowers on new wood.

Mulching

Help the soil retain moisture and regulate temperature by applying a 2 to 3-inch layer of organic mulch around the base of the plant in early spring. Mulch also effectively suppresses weeds, reducing competition for water and nutrients.
