Back to the Fuchsia Salvia sets the summer border ablaze with vivid, richly saturated flower spikes rising upright above tidy green foliage from late spring straight through fall. A butterfly, hummingbird, and beneficial bird magnet, it is one of the most productive perennials in the pollinator garden during its long bloom season. It grows to a clean two to three feet in an upright form that holds its shape without sprawling, and the deep, warm flower color provides a striking contrast against silvery companions like artemisia or catmint. Drought tolerant and deer resistant once established, it prefers lean, well-drained soil and full sun. Deadhead regularly to encourage continuous flowering, and cut it back hard after the first flush to promote fresh bushy growth and a strong second wave of bloom.
