This mauve rugosa rose opens richly fragrant single blooms in a lovely shade of soft purple-mauve. Like all rugosas, it’s exceptionally tough, tolerating salt, wind, and poor soils while resisting deer, rabbits, insects, and disease. The crinkled green foliage and showy red hips give it multi-season appeal. Plant it in full sun, where its mounded form reaches three to five feet and makes a superb informal hedge. It blooms through summer and asks for almost no care. For fragrant, unusual color on a rugged plant, this mauve rugosa is a standout.
