Vividly colored flowers bloom for weeks in the summer heat making Phlox a must-have for the mid to late summer garden. Domed clusters of fragrant, deep reddish purple flowers bloom July through August on upright stems of lush, dark green, mildew-resistant leaves. Phlox mixes well with other plants and, regardless of color, is attractive to hummingbirds. To further minimize the chance of powdery mildew, avoid overhead watering and overcrowding.
