Beard-Tongue, Prairie Dusk

Prairie Dusk Beard-Tongue is a striking native Penstemon with tall, elegant spikes of tubular lavender-purple flowers that rise above a low clump of clean, gray-green foliage in late spring and early summer. Among the most ornamental of the native penstemons, its large blooms draw hummingbirds and bumblebees with particular enthusiasm. Once established in a sunny, well-drained spot, it is remarkably drought tolerant and long-lived for a penstemon.
