Fountain Care

Winter Care — If your area undergoes freeze-thaw cycles and/or the temperature falls below 32°F in

your area, follow the steps below to protect your fountain.

It is important to prevent water from accumulating anywhere, as freezing and thawing of water can

cause pump damage and cause cracks to form in your fountain.

1. Drain: Completely drain all fountain bowls and the fiberglass basin (if applicable) using a wet dry

vacuum if possible. If there are drain plugs located in the bowl or basin, the plugs can be removed

to ensure drainage.

2. Pump and Accessory Care: Make sure to empty and drain any water from the pump/s and allow

them to dry. The tubing can be disconnected from the pump inside the pump house to help empty

and dry the pump/s. Once dry, the pumps can be reconnected and left inside the fountain as long

as the fountain is covered for the winter.

If your fountain has a refill device set up, the refill device will need to be disconnected. Ensure

that any water is cleared from the clear tubing and disconnect the pressure regulator from the

water supply.

3. Dry: Make sure the fountain surfaces and pump are completely dry before the fountain is covered

for the winter.

4. Cover: Make sure to use a breathable material when covering the fountain. DO NOT COVER IN

PLASTIC. Make sure the fountain cover is taut so that no snow or water can pool in the cover. Tie

the opening at the bottom of the cover around the fountain. Campania’s stock fountain covers are

designed to cover the fountain bowls and will not cover the basin and coping. We recommend

purchasing a custom sized cover the will fit the entire fountain and basin system.
