Seed Savers Dulce De La Tierra Ground Cherry

$4.25

Yellow fruits boast a delightful tropical flavor reminiscent of just-ripe kiwi with notes of pineapple. While this variety matures later than Physalis pruinosa ground cherries, it delivers a far more intense flavor. This crop is also known as Cape gooseberry, goldenberry, and Peruvian ground cherry. Heirloom, Non-GMO, Open-Pollinated, Organic.

Growing Instructions: Ground cherries grow best when started indoors and transplanted.

  • Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost in spring.
  • Germination: 14–28 days.
  • Plant seeds 1/4” deep in warm, moist soil.
  • Transplant seedlings outdoors after the danger of frost has passed, spacing them at least 2’ apart in rich, well-draining soil.
  • Light: Full sun
  • Keep soil consistently moist to prevent the fruit from splitting.
