This PlantHaven introduction was discovered by Crispin Silva. It grows upright with strongly weeping branches. Covered in fragrant, white, bell shaped flowers in late spring. The dark green leaves turn to gold in fall. Grows best in full sun to part shade in a rich, well-drained soil. It benefits from regular watering in summer or drought. Three Flowered Maple has dark green foliage throughout the season. The compound leaves turn outstanding shades of yellow, orange and red in the fall. Neither the flowers nor the fruit are ornamentally significant. The peeling khaki (brownish-green) bark is extremely showy and adds significant winter interest.
Three Flowered Maple is a deciduous tree with an upright spreading habit of growth. Its average texture blends into the landscape, but can be balanced by one or two finer or coarser trees or shrubs for an effective composition.
