To add a fresh, bright pop of color to the shade garden, try Astilbe chinensis 'Hot Pearls ®'. This is a later blooming type with large red flower plumes that sit above the feathery, medium green foliage. The thick stems are quite sturdy and will not flop over with the weight of the flowers.
