Spark is based on traditional ikats, fabrics created by resist-dyeing yarns before they are woven. The Chilewich design team looked to this multifaceted process—in which bundles of yarn are wrapped together, dyed in sequence, and then aligned on the loom to create a desired pattern—to inspire the development of a double weave flecked with blurred-edge bursts of color that extend vertically or horizontally, intersecting in dynamic crosshatchings. The large scale of Spark's repeat makes each placemat unique.

A gradation of weaves creates the soft-edged shapes of Arc. Rows of layered crescents intersect and align to form a dynamic pattern of connected curves and rich texture. When flipped over, a different color comes to the fore, offering two distinct looks in each placemat. 

Developed in collaboration with Martha Stewart, Coverlet is inspired by the bold geometry of patterns created by overshot weaving, a technique closely associated with the bed coverings, or coverlets, found in American homes as early as the seventeenth century. When flipped over, the colors are reversed, offering two distinct looks in each mat. 

Botanic is a fresh perspective on floral motifs, featuring a deconstructed bouquet brought to life on the loom. The thoughtful application of color adds dimension to this versatile and lively weave.

Having previously explored florals through printed and molded textiles, our design team set out to push the boundaries of weaving—and creativity. Botanic was developed through a playful and iterative process that began with a trip to New York's Flower District. Back at the studio, a variety of stems were arranged on paper.  These compositions were then covered in a coat of spray paint. When the flowers were lifted away from the painted paper, their silhouettes remained.

The works on paper were photographed and then the compositions were collaged digitally. Finally, the image was translated into a woven jacquard, its playful blooms enlivened through unexpected color.

A new voice in Chilewich's ongoing conversation with faux bois—the centuries-old art and craft of imitating wood—Woodgrain gains its distinctive look from faithfully recreated patterns originally formed by the burls, knots, growth rings, and other natural variations that make each piece of wood unique. This weave was developed with a large, thoughtfully scaled repeat to enhance the continuity and organic quality of the tonal texture.

Within the jacquard structure are a variety of weaves that create shading and generate patterns, coming together to form an expansively scaled, harmonious design with patchwork charm.

Inspired by traditional ikat textiles and the blurred edges created by resist dyeing, Flare pushes twill constructions to elegant new extremes. The softened, angled chevron pattern gains its heathered quality from the interplay of yarns, highlighting the especially tactile quality of this striking yet versatile weave.

At first glance Metallic Lace appears to be real metal, however upon closer inspection it is clearly a very sophisticated and refined textile. The open abstract netting is 'metalized' to form the metallic looking surface and thus becomes a truly contemporary lace in both placemats and runners.

TO CLEAN: Simply clean with warm water and clean soft sponge. Avoid cleaning agents that contain ammonia, household alcohol or other harsh ingredients.

Inspired by textiles that use plied, or multi-strand, yarn to create wave-like effects, Moiré recreates this distinctively rippled quality through pattern. Versatile tonal hues come together in textural striations that evoke tiger stripes, curly lamb fur, or dappled sunlight.

Developed in collaboration with Martha Stewart, Boxwood is inspired by the pleasing depth and dimension created by layered textiles of various textures. This dobby weave combines geometric precision with a lacy, openwork quality created by a loom-based pattern known as huck lace. When flipped over, the colors are reversed, offering two distinct looks in each mat.

One of the oldest and simplest of weaving constructions, Chilewich's four-over-four Basketweave has become the most important vehicle for expressing our unique color point of view – from deep earth tones, to shades of metal, to our personal interpretation of brights.

Lattice is one of Chilewich's few weaves that is woven on Leno looms. Chilewich's clear coated weft yarns become bumpy when extruded and therefore push warp yarns in an irregular line, with an overall effect that feels naturally random. The clear coating provides and overall shimmer often likened to crystal and jewels.

At once graphic and serene, Arrow is a weave of geometric precision softened by tonal hues. Triangular forms traced by angled lines come together in a pattern of subtle diamond shapes.
