It blooms in mid to late summer, and has a beautiful colorway from the moment it blooms to the day it finally dries, without ever going murky or dull. You won't have to deadhead either, the dried flower heads are a beautiful accent in the winter garden. You'll find it's easy to care for, as it's a cultivar of our native arborescens and produces nice clean foliage in North American gardens. Schizophragma hydrangeoides, commonly called Japanese hydrangea vine, is a deciduous, woody-stemmed, climbing vine which is valued for its toothed, heart-shaped, deep green leaves (3-5" long) and large, flat-topped, lace cap hydrangea-like clusters (8-10" across) of white flowers which bloom in early summer. Foliage turns yellow in fall. Attaches to and grows up flat vertical surfaces such as masonry walls by stem-borne adhesive rootlets. Reddish-brown stems provide some interest in winter.

Limelight Prime ® Hydrangea features bold conical lime green flowers with white overtones at the ends of the branches from early summer to late fall. The flowers are excellent for cutting. It has green deciduous foliage. The pointy leaves do not develop any appreciable fall color.

Its attractive enormous textured heart-shaped leaves emerge powder blue in spring, turning blue in color throughout the season. This is a relatively low maintenance plant, and is best cleaned up in early spring before it resumes active growth for the season.
