Rhododendron catawbiense

Unit price perBack for the 2026 season.
Exceptionally hardy deciduous azalea featuring lightly scented creamy white flowers with elegant yellow accents in spring that emerge before the leaves. Attractive green leaves take on shades of purple and red in the fall before dropping. Lovely planted in groups, especially near evergreens. To ensure success this plant must have loose, acidic soil that drains well, and will fail in wet, heavy, poorly draining clay. Amend heavy clay soil with shredded pine bark and add soil sulfur to lower the pH. Flower bud hardy to -35F
