Chalet Live: Nature Indoors
Nature Indoors
Air Plants (tillandsia): One of Lawson’s favorites. They can go anywhere in your home as they don’t need a pot. They prefer to have indirect light and you don’t have to water them all that often! Talk about easy! Water them once every week or so by running them under the faucet or dunking them in a bath of water for about 5 seconds and they will be happy! They will flower after reaching maturity.
Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum): A deep green colored-leaf accented with a beautiful white flower that will appear even in low-light locations. Likes to be evenly moist. Check soil weekly.
ZZ Plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia): Another trendy but easy-care plant! Low light needs and you only need to water every 2-3 weeks. The leaves are very strong and have a unique pattern that will go nicely in almost any location of your home.
Phalaenopsis Orchid (Phalaenopsis): You can’t go wrong with the beautiful orchid! It will provide a stunning accent to any home! Water them every 10 days to 2 weeks with just a quarter cup of water. Not only is this plant pretty but it’s healthy as well. Keep it in your bedroom and reap the benefits of its increased oxygen production overnight.
Ferns: There is a wide variety of ferns... the Staghorn can be hung on the wall. Other ferns look great in a modern-looking pot like the Bird’s Nest Fern in the video! Be sure to keep the soil surface evenly moist. You can even keep them in a bathroom where they will enjoy the moisture in the air when you shower or bathe!
Dracaena: Dracaena is another plant with some nice options. In the video, we show the cane which is a larger floor plant variety as well as one you can keep on a table top. Both of these have that “chartreuse” or lime green color that Earl, Tony and many others love. It will give any room a nice tropical pop! They are low maintenance and prefer to be dry. They can be overwatered so be careful! Let them get bone dry before watering again. They do like high to moderate light.
Succulents: Last, but not least are the hot and trendy succulents! From the desert to your home, they love sunlight and don’t need a lot of water. They have some very funky varieties and will bring a lot of character to a window sill or table top. Have fun with the wide variety of options. You’re sure to find a succulent that will fit your style!
