Planting

Location:

Choose a site that receives full sun to partial shade. Ensure the soil is well-drained and rich in organic matter to support this

Spacing:

Space this perennial 12 to 18 inches apart to allow for optimal air circulation and growth.

Watering

Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, ensuring it is well-drained to avoid root rot.

Fertilizing

Fertilize it with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to support robust growth and flowering throughout the growing season.

Pruning

Prune it back by one-third in early spring to encourage new growth and maintain its compact shape.

Mulching

Apply a 2 to 3-inch layer of organic mulch around the base of the plant in late spring to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Magenta pink flowers bloom heavily in May, then sporadically for the rest of the summer on dense mounds of foliage. The small, dark green, deeply lobed leaves turn amazing shades of red in the fall.
