Green Mountain Boxwood Care Instructions

Planting

Location:

Choose a location with well-drained soil and partial to full sunlight for optimal growth. Ensure protection from harsh winds to maintain its shape and health.

Spacing:

Space them 3 to 4 feet apart to allow for optimal growth and air circulation, ensuring they thrive in well-drained soil with partial to full sunlight.

Watering

Water them deeply once a week during dry spells, ensuring the soil remains consistently moist but not waterlogged to promote healthy growth.

Fertilizing

Fertilize this variety annually in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer to support healthy growth and lush foliage.

Pruning

Prune Green Mountain in late spring after new growth has emerged to maintain shape and encourage dense foliage.

Mulching

Apply a 2-3 inch layer of organic mulch around the base of the plant in early spring to retain moisture and suppress weeds.

A popular garden staple for its evergreen foliage and versatile nature, Boxwood is great for hedging, massing and topiary work. Green Mountain is a dense, pyramidal form that makes an excellent accent or taller hedge. Evergreen, small, dark green leaves maintain their color through the winter. If shaping, trim in mid to late June. Not fussy as long as the soil is not wet.
