Pink Lightning Bugleweed lives up to its name with a quick, colorful spring display that brightens shaded borders and groundcover beds from early in the season. Semi-evergreen and spreading, it forms a neat, low mat of glossy dark green leaves that tops out under a foot tall and fills in gradually without becoming invasive. The spring flower spikes rise above the foliage in a cheerful burst of color that draws butterflies to even the shadiest garden corners. It adapts well to partial shade with regular moisture, spreading reliably to cover slopes, suppress weeds, and create clean edges along walkways and borders. Deer and rabbits seldom bother it, and it handles challenging soil conditions including those near black walnut trees without skipping a beat. An easygoing, hardworking groundcover for the spots in your garden that beg for something low and lovely.
