Shell Pink Lamium lights up the shady spots most ground covers shy away from, weaving a low carpet of silver-frosted, green-edged leaves that glow even in deep shade. From spring into summer, soft shell-pink flowers rise just above the foliage, returning in repeat flushes to keep the color going. Spreading a foot and a half to two feet wide, it knits together quickly to fill borders, edge a woodland path, or tumble from a shaded container. It’s wonderfully easygoing—deer tend to leave it alone, rabbits pass it by, and it shrugs off the juglone of black walnut trees that troubles so many plants. Butterflies visit the blooms, and the bright foliage carries the display long after the flowers fade. Pair it with ferns and hostas to brighten a dim corner.
