Each flower cluster on this dainty lacecap hydrangea resembles a wedding bouquet! A bigleaf or macrophylla-type of hydrangea blooming on both old and new stems, Wedding Gown features clusters of long-lasting double white flowers in early summer, with more flowers later in summer, especially if faded flowers are snipped off. The flowers cannot be made blue or pink. Large, glossy dark green leaves are attractive all by themselves. This is a smaller, compact hydrangea suitable for containers along with shadier nooks in the garden. To achieve the best flower display do not cut back stems to the ground in the fall and mulch with 8-12" of shredded leaves or medium chunk bark to protect the stems. Any trimming needed can be done in early spring after the plant has leafed out.
