Electric Lime Coral Bells earns its name with foliage that practically hums with color—brilliant chartreuse-lime leaves that light up shaded corners and create stunning contrast against dark greens, purples, or deep burgundies in the mixed border. Slender stems rise above the compact 12 to 18 inch mound in spring and summer bearing small white flowers that attract butterflies and hummingbirds, adding movement and life to the garden. The mounding habit stays tidy without any pruning, and the foliage holds its vivid color from spring through fall in partial sun conditions. It tolerates the challenging root zone of black walnut trees, a quality that opens up garden areas that many other perennials simply won’t handle. Deer, rabbits, and most insects leave it alone, and it thrives equally well in a container or at the front of a shaded border. A little plant that makes a very big visual statement.
