Thin- skinned fruit grow 2-3" long and 3-4" wide, weigh 5-13 ounces, and mature mid-season. J. Orris Murphy received this variety circa 1989 from the Dwayne Bushman family of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and donated it to SSE in the mid- 1990s. The Bushmans had maintained it for more than 100 years.

Snake Plant is native to regions of West Africa including Nigeria and the Congo. It actually is closely related to Asparagus but not edible. N.A.S.A lists this plant as air purifying, removing toxins such as benzene and formaldehyde. Depending on the cultivar, they can grow anywhere from eight inches tall to several feet or more and come in many shapes, sizes and color patterns. One of the easiest to care for, they will tolerate and almost thrive in any type of light condition and prefer to be on the drier side.
