Paeonia suffruticosa, commonly known as tree peony, is a deciduous, multi-stemmed, woody shrub that typically grows to 3-5’ tall and as wide. Since the origin of these plants is from seed, each will have slightly different plant habits and floral characteristics. Most open light lavender and quickly fade to white, some will have blush centers to their petals. Stigmas and filaments will be reddish-violet, contrasting with the soft petal colors. Plants are heavy bloomers and are sure to please. Additionally, plants typically produce large numbers of seeds which are easily grown.
