Your neighbors will love all your extra beans! 'Provider' is a high-yielding and early producing bean with great disease resistance to bean common mosaic virus (NY15), pod mottle virus, and mildew. This wonderful French heirloom from the 1800s has been pleasing gardeners with its rich, buttery flavor for more than a century. Compact, 12" tall head with a tender green heart surrounded by bronze-red leaves. The name fittingly translates to "Red Winter", as it is cold tolerant and resists tip burn. Ideal for fall planting.

Painted Lady Improved (aka Bicolor Runner, Painted Runner), Friar Antonio de Arrabida described this species in Flora of Rio de Janeiro in 1827. Incredibly beautiful bi-colored blossoms are very attractive to hummingbird moths. This strain is less affected by warmer temperatures than other runner beans and is a prolific bloomer. Esteemed as both an ornamental and edible climber.

Growing Instructions: Sow seeds outdoors after danger of frost has passed and soil and air temperatures have warmed. Runner beans prefer full sun, although they tolerate part shade very well. Young pods can be eaten whole, or the beans can be eaten fresh or dried. Even the flowers are edible.
