Elm: Princeton

Considered by many the most ornamental of all shade trees, the stately vase-shaped specimen is the ultimate street tree forming an overhead arch. Princeton Elm has dark green foliage throughout the season. The large serrated pointy leaves turn an outstanding gold in the fall. This is a high maintenance tree that will require regular care and upkeep, and is best pruned in late winter once the threat of extreme cold has passed. Other names include American Elm, Water Elm, Gray Elm and Swamp Elm.
