White Oak

The King of Trees, as many call it, is the state tree of Illinois, Connecticut and Maryland. You've surely seen many of these in parks or golf courses. Put in a yard and it will serve as the center piece of the landscape.  Expected to live for hundreds of years, it can be a your family's legacy tree for years to come. Grows to be a massive and stately tree with an artistic, wide-spreading habit of growth and good fall color. Requires full sun, but provides plenty of shade underneath. It is not particular as to soil type, but has a definite preference for acidic soils. Has dark green foliage which emerges rose in spring.
