Azalea: Flame

This spectacular native shrub of the Appalachian mountains features a fiery orange bloom that is larger than other natives. Long leaves give way to the trumpet-shaped flowers that come out in mid spring. To ensure success this plant must have moist, loose, acidic soil that drains well, and will fail in wet, heavy, poorly draining clay. When planting, amend soil by adding soil sulfur.
