Canadian Wild Ginger

This native woodland groundcover is a lovely alternative to the typical Pachysandra or English Ivy in shady, moist locations. Great paired with Bleeding Heart, Ferns and Hosta in the shade garden. Spreads slowly by rhizomes to form a solid carpet of elegant, pale green, heart-shaped leaves that deer and rabbits won't bother. The brownish flower, although not showy, is host to the Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly.
