Monkshood: Azure

One of the few true blue perennials to bloom in the late summer months of August and September! Stately stems clothed in deeply lobed, glossy, dark green leaves are topped with spikes of rich blue flowers. Perfect planted in groups as a backdrop in partially shaded perennial or open woodland gardens. Monkshood derives its name from the flowers which resemble little helmets. Warning: Also known as Wolfbane, be mindful that all parts of the plant are poisonous if eaten. Keep small children away! Best performance in loose, organically rich soil that drains well.
