After recently purchasing the home and updating the interior, the homeowner's wanted to address the dated landscape. The existing patio and landscape layout of the back yard consisted of several small, disjointed patios with planting beds in between and raised planter boxes spaced at random. The patios were too small to be used by groups of more than three or four people at a time. The goal of the new landscape design was to simplify the space and provide ample room for the family to gather and entertain. A large bluestone patio was designed for enough space to fit a ten person dining table, a lounge area, as well as a mortared brick fire place with seating for four. The surrounding landscape softens the edges of the patio and provides privacy screening from the neighbors on both sides. A large portion of the back lawn was maintained to allow for plenty of play space for the children. The updated landscape fits better with the scale of the property and the needs of the large family.
