Dark green leaves with a bluish cast distinguish this flowering dogwood. In June, greenish 4-petaled flowers (bracts) appear along the spreading branches, gradually changing to ivory white. The flowers are followed by red, raspberry-like fruit that birds enjoy. The leaves turn various shades of yellow, orange, red and purple in fall, the color often persisting for weeks. Patchy gray-tan-rich brown bark that develops on older trees is a great winter feature. For best growth this tree requires loose, acidic and well-draining soil. We recommend amending heavy clay soil with shredded pine bark and adding soil sulfur to make it more acidic.
Plants are constantly growing, ever-changing, and therefore unique. The plant you receive may vary from the photo, but rest assured, holds the same glorious potential!
