Midwinter Fire is a compact Redtwig Dogwood with striking two-toned winter stems. Clusters of creamy white spring flowers are followed by purplish black fruit that birds relish. Oval leaves turn a golden yellow color in fall. Winter stems of red, orange and yellow create a stunning bonfire effect. Young stems have the best color so its best to occasionally remove older, thicker branches. Excellent in foundation plantings or massed in the shrub border, especially with an evergreen backdrop, for the winter stem color. Also makes a wonderful natural hedge.
