A deciduous shrub with unusual peeling bark. Tiny, fragrant white flowers give way to the bright reddish-pink sepals behind them in the fall. Best in shrub borders and foundation planting against a dark background. Can either be a large shrub or small tree. After the petals fall, the pink sepals remain giving the appearance that the plant is in flower again.
