Duke is an early ripening blueberry that blooms later than most, protecting the flowers from late frosts. White flowers in late spring are followed by heavy clusters of firm, light blue, high quality berries in late June and July. Fall foliage is an incredible orange-yellow. Blueberries require acidic, well-drained soil and full sun for best performance. For heavier clay soils, the addition of soil sulfur helps to lower the pH while shredded pine or pine fines will improve aeration and drainage. May also be grown as a container plant. Plant with a different blueberry variety for cross-pollination and best fruiting.
