A popular, tough and hardy vine for screening, excellent along fences and arbors, up the sides of houses or climbing trees; features interesting five-lobed leaves that turn red and purple in fall, small black berries; self-clinging, extremely adaptable Virginia Creeper has dark green foliage which emerges brick red in spring. The serrated palmate leaves turn an outstanding red in the fall. Neither the flowers nor the fruit are ornamentally significant. Virginia Creeper is a dense multi-stemmed deciduous woody vine with a twining and trailing habit of growth. Its average texture blends into the landscape, but can be balanced by one or two finer or coarser trees or shrubs for an effective composition. This woody vine will require occasional maintenance and upkeep, and can be pruned at anytime. It is a good choice for attracting birds to your yard, but is not particularly attractive to deer who tend to leave it alone in favor of tastier treats. It has no significant negative characteristics. Virginia Creeper is recommended for the following landscape applications; Hedges/Screening General Garden Use This woody vine performs well in both full sun and full shade. It is very adaptable to both dry and moist locations, and should do just fine under average home landscape conditions. It is considered to be drought-tolerant, and thus makes an ideal choice for xeriscaping or the moisture-conserving landscape. It is not particular as to soil type or pH, and is able to handle environmental salt. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. This species is native to parts of North America.

Delivery
We deliver outdoor plants within a zone around the Chicagoland. Currently, we are offering free delivery over $200, otherwise a $20 fee will be assessed. As plants are perishable, we take care to deliver them by hand using our own vehicles.
  • Delivery zone includes the North Shore Suburbs North up to Winthrop Harbor and Wauconda; North Side of Chicago to downtown and Southwest to Oak Park. See here for a list of zip codes.
  • For plant material not planted by Chalet, there is a 1-year, 50% merchandise credit guarantee.

Planting

  • To add Chalet's Planting Service, standard pricing is 50% of the plants' retail price. 
  • Right now, our normal delivery fee of $75 is waived for orders over $200. 
  • Fees do not include tree or stump removal.
  • Larger orders may require separate labor quote. Plantings carry a 1-year full guarantee. However, there is no guarantee for container or planter plantings as they are difficult to overwinter. 

  
No-contact Curbside Pickup 

We offer free in-store pickup at our retail store at 3132 Lake Avenue in Wilmette, IL. During the coronavirus crisis, our store is not open to the public, but we are set up to accommodate your pickup orders. Please allow 3-5 hours after your order for processing. Also, please plan to pickup your items within one week of your order date.
